There are two types of registration:

• Affiliation to NZDBA, the National organising body which provides structure and coordination for Dragon Boating in NZ, and
• Entry into the ultimate event in NZ Paddling, the NZDBA National Championships (typically the last weekend in March). More on Nationals 2010...

The NZDBA affiliation period runs from 1- November to 31-October of the following year.

Regional Dragon Boat bodies

Auckland Dragon Boat Association are the RSO for Auckland metropolitan area and North.

Waikato Dragonboating and Waka Ama Association is Hamilton-based and serves the growing Bay of Plenty area.

Aoraki Dragons are an affiliation of Christchurch-based Dragon Boat teams who also support paddling in other South Island locations.
