NZDBA National Championships

National Dragon Boating Champs for the 2009-10 season was at Lake Hood, just east of Ashburton on Saturday 27-March (Adults) and Sunday 28-March-10 (Schools).

The next one is on the Blue Lakes, Rotorua at the end of March 2011.

Entries

Twenty four adult teams braved the unseasonably cold Saturday at Lake Hood, to produce some epic race battles (available on DVD). Next day, ten Secondary School teams had slightly warmer conditions for their racing.

Brief results from 2010:

Hamilton City Watersports are the 2010 "Champion of Champions"
Tu Meke Dragons (Christchurch) are runners up (Adults)
Ridge Riders Under 23 (Christchurch) - third place (Adults)

Christchurch Schools cleaned up the Secondary Schools Championships:

Shirley Boys High School - Boys Grand Champion
Christchurch Girls High School - Girls Grand Champion
Hillmorton High School - Mixed Grand Champion
