Nationals Champs

NZDBA National Championships

NZDBA runs the National Championships for Dragon Boating, typically in the last weekend of March. This season (2011-12) they return to Lake Hood , outside Ashburton on Saturday 31-March-12 (Adults and Schools/Juniors).

Entry fees

Adult team standard fee for 2012 (Lake Hood, Ashburton) is $1,000 plus GST, keeping it the same as for last year. Similarly the fees are held at last year's level for School (Junior) teams - that is $500 plus GST.

Note that this applies to fees paid by the end of February. There is a discount for fees paid before the end of January. Click here for the registration deadlines etc including Early Bird entry and Late/Penalty entry fees.

Contact secretary@nzdba.co.nz to register your interest, and for any correspondence.

Sweeps and crew

Teams should all provide their own Sweep (as well as drummer and paddlers of course). NZDBA will provide Pool Sweeps but only to cover in the case of injury, emergency or race conditions rule out the Team Sweep.

That is, to maintain consistency, there will no longer be Pool Sweeps for the BC and Women’s Divisions at NZDBA National Regattas.

NZDBA is drafting a number of Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) to describe how we operate etc, and these will include a SOP to clarify crew compositions and the use of Pool Sweeps at Nationals.

Conditions of entry to Nationals

Any NZDBA-affiliated team may register for the Nationals, but entry to the regatta will only be allowed to those teams that have competed at one or more qualifying/ sanctioned event.
